This 12-story, 170-room Residence Inn by Marriott features a custom design, modernizing the standard traditional and transitional Residence Inn aesthetic to cater to the upscale traveler in the area’s bustling business and social hub, Clayton, Missouri. The interior design concept offers guests a comfortable “home away from home” experience with contemporary, abstract touches that align with the latest technology. The abundant amenity spaces and numerous structural columns challenged the design flow in the common areas. Integrating light-colored wood floors for an open and bright appearance while wrapping dark wood accents and light fixtures around the columns gives them a deliberate presence bringing a rich and cozy ambiance. The delicate, multi-dimensional circular globe chandelier beautifully contrasts the straight vertical lines of the plaid wainscoting slat wall transforming the two-story atrium into a design focal point. Clean lines, linen-textured fabrics and wallcovering mimic the pattern of a tailored suit, a nod to the business professional. Delicate light fixtures with pentagon shapes bring a harmonious blend of roundness and angles. Diagonal tiles add visual interest and gradient carpets provide style and pops of color without overwhelming or detracting from the versatility of the event spaces. The bar is softly lit with dimmable, frosted globe light fixtures, creating a soothing ambiance for enjoying cocktails. The library millwork creates a cozy lounge-like atmosphere, inviting guests to relax and unwind. Furniture with rounded corners in deep jeweled tones, including sapphire and rust accents, beautifully complements the warm undertones of the wood. A mix of brushed and matte fixtures adds a natural yet upscale touch. The artwork is a playful tribute to the city. As you enter the hotel, a custom-designed gold silhouette of the Clayton and downtown Saint Louis skyline highlights the towering buildings against the natural Forest Park landscape. Photographs overlaying past and present Clayton adorn the hallways, and Instagram-worthy artwork icons in the guest rooms connect guests with social media.
